She was a global celebrity when she scored her first perfect 10, on the asymmetrical bar at the Montreal Olympic Games. Additionally her score, she was able to rack up another six perfect 10s which made her the youngest Olympic gold medalist in history, at just 14 years of age. The accomplishment of Nadia Comaneci was not only to get international attention, but she also brought Romania in the spotlight. In achieving a result that was inconceivable the sport's icon helped bring gymnastics into the spotlight of international attention. She changed the way that people saw female athletes. Her contribution to the Olympics was so powerful that two of her movements which are the toe-on motion and the release motion were designated in her honour. Both have been rated as being difficult at a high level. In addition to the Olympics her performance was impressive. Jim and Sasha who are both writers have been formally forming a duo, and they have performed in open mics as well as other local venues.
